A long time ago Corey told me that I should blog. I didn't understand why he would say that or why anyone would do that. Now I do. I've been blogging all summer, but I had not told very many people. I was scared. I have a problem with exposing myself. I don't like to be judged... or evaluated... or criticized. Whatever you want to call it. I guess I had a need to express myself though - to myself and maybe, in some way, to the world. But I was not ready to be seen - I mean, really seen - by the people that I see on a regular basis. So my blog was my little secret, for the most part. It was my place to go quietly sit with my thoughts. Recently I was discovered. I don't know how. Someone linked to someone who linked to someone who linked to me. I was surprised to see a familiar yet foriegn name on my comments. Now, more and more people are "finding me". I guess that is okay. I have a love - and need, I think - for this blogging thing, so I can handle it.

Little Boys and Legos
Nobody told my little guys that boys LOVE Legos... they just knew it. This is their current passion. Building. For Cooper, it is usually towers. For Jack, creating things from scratch is his forte right now. They love Legos and so I love Legos... except when I step on them with my barefeet.

Anything she wants.

The whole weekend -
Lots of laughing, running, jumping, giggling and a little screaming, crying, tugging, and slamming.
I loved it!
When did that happen?
Tonight I was thinking about when a few things - things that are normal and an everyday part of Cooper's life - started. You know, when something has just "always" been and you can't remember when it began? One of the things that I was thinking about was inspired by my entry about Cooper's "turtle face". He was born in June, and I know that we were already calling him Turtle - or the spanish, Tortuga - in July, but I wanted to hunt down the first picture of him actually making "the face". This one is not until February, but it is 100% My Little Turtle!
Another thing that I was contimplating is when Cooper started sucking his 2 fingers. It seems that he has just always done that although I vividly remember trying to MAKE the poor baby take a paci for a couple of months. The picture of him sleeping is the first one I ever took of him and his new found friends. (September) The other is just a better shot at the same thing.

The last thing that I was wondering about my little guy was when he started his most favorite (and probably most odd) habit of wanting to put one hand in his mouth and one hand in his loved ones' mouths. When he first started doing this, he did not discriminate. He reached for anyone's mouth. Now, I am pretty much the only target of his affection in that area. It is a habit that I am trying to help him break but one that brings him much comfort. I just wonder how in the heck he discovered it... The picture of Cooper and me is the first documentation of "Mama's Mowwth" as he calls it. (March) The one of Corey & Coop was taken in April.

Friday's Cousin Fun
My precious niece, Skyler, and her mommy & daddy are visiting us this weekend. We have had a blast having them here! Yesterday we took the kids to the mall to Build A Bear, and the little ones made animals. A first for both of them. Skyler made a bear - Her parents both went to Baylor, so they all love Baylor Bears! She named her Cristal The Baylor Bear. Cooper made a turtle - Since he was a baby his nickname has been Turtle because of the cutest little turtle face that he makes. (He is kind of making it in this first picture.) He had a hard time deciding on a name... the naming a toy thing is a new concept for him. First he wanted to name him "Turtle"... imagine that, then he thought about "Franklin" like his cousins' pet turtle, then he remembered looking at that turtle with his cousin, Gabe (whom he LOVES and calls "Gade"), and he decided to name his new stuffed friend Gade The Turtle. It was so cute watching Skyler and Cooper go through the process of making their animals and love on them after they were made. They have loved playing with them and sleeping with them today!

After Build A Bear, we went to Rainforst Cafe for dessert. We got the "Volcano" to share. It was really yummy!
The Sky is Falling
We put our house on the market last spring. We love our home, our neighbors, our neighborhood... so this was a heartbreaking decision for me. But it had to be done. We fully expected that it would sell quickly - everything around us had sold very quickly up to that point. Well, 63 showings later... here we are. Still living in the home that we love. I am not sure why we are still here, but one reason might be this... For the almost 5 years that we have lived in this house we have never had this expereince, but since the house has been on the market, we have had 3 monumental roof leaking expereinces. I mean, to the point that the celing texture has fallen off and professional repairs have to be made. The latest of these experiences was last night. It makes no logical sense to me. Maybe there is something about this plan that I don't understand...
