My "Football Boy"

Cooper has a fascination with "football boys". In the fall, the highlight of our trip to and from the big kids' school was driving past the middle school's football field and seeing the "red football boys" practicing. He loves to make up elaborate stories about being tackled by "football boys", and he loves pretending to be one...

The other day, during the football game on TV, Cooper was eating a snack. Several minutes afterwards, Corey interrupted Cooper's imaginary football game by asking him, "What do you have in your mouth?" Cooper opened his little lips up to show that he had a pickle-mouthpiece and kinda growled, "I'm a football boy!" Now, that's creative!

The Sweetest Little "Big Mouth" Around

As I mentioned in the previous post, I was out for a bit yesterday. While I was gone Corey had the kids and during that time he put Coop down for a nap. After I got home, Cooper woke up, and I went to get him from his crib. I sat in the rocking chair with him, and we had a chat that went something like this...

M: "Did you have fun with Daddy?"
C: "Yes."
M: "What did you do.?"
C: " We went shopping."
M: "Where?"
C: "At Target"
M: "Oh yeah?"
C; "We got you a birthday present."
M:
C: "It was pants and a coat."
M:
C: "It was black and white."
M:
C: (in a quiet, wide-eyed, excited voice) "It's a surprise!!!"

I died laughing... so he did too. He was very proud to bring me such entertainment.

I guess that was his birthday gift to me. :)

"Daddy Did It"

Yesterday I was out for lunch, and when I came home Cooper was wearing this... Jack's big ol' shorts. :) Corey had dressed him. Oh well! I am a big fan of the idea that as long as I get an occasional break, I don't care if they eat Doritos and wear their PJs all day... as long as they all have fun and are alive when I get home.

(This photo was taken by Corey of the boys and their friend Josh as they were looking for the ice cream truck that was circling our neighborhood yesterday afternoon... Yes, again. This time in DECEMBER!!!)

My Attempt At "Martha"

Today I was crafty!

I am not usually a crafty person, but at Thanksgiving my mom gave me a Southern Living idea book that had the custest stuff in it! One of the things was a tomato-cage-topiary. (I don't know if that is what they called it, but it sounds good to me.) Well, today I was inspired, and I tried to make one. I am not sure if Martha would be impressed, but I like it.

Away In A Manger

Today's Favorite Thing...

This is one of my favorite nativities. I love how the Christmas story is told on the figurines as well as by them. The way I got this one is kind of funny. Corey knew that I wanted it really badly but also knew that Iove a bargain and a sale. So, for Christmas, he gave me a gift card with an after-Christmas coupon attached, so I could go get it at the best price possible. :) I love it even more because it was a good deal!

Basketball Begins

Today Allie & Jack had their first basketball games of the season. Basketball was "my sport" in high-school. I love watching it and thinking through what is happening on the floor and what should be happening and what is about to happen. And I cannot tell you the thrill that I get when I see my kids do something amazing on the court. Today I got to experience that a few times... Allie scored 6 baskets and made one freeshot during her game... yep, I am a proud mama. My throat hurt a bit after that game from all of the yelling for my girl! Then, we were off to Jack's game. 7-year-old boys play much differently than 11-year-old girls, but I can honestly say that I was entertained! And Jack lived up to the "Energizer Bunny" nickname given to him after playing a game with the neighbors earlier this week. He is in a state of constant, excited movement when he is on the court. He played great defense and scored 1 basket. Woo Hoo!

Saturday's Alarm Clock

Waking up in the morning.
Not my favorite thing.
Waking up in the morning to a dog that has to go out into the cold and pee.
REALLY not my favorite thing.
Waking up in the morning to a dog that has to go out into the cold and pee on a Saturday.
Torture.
