My Beach Babies

Last Wednesday we took off for the beach to squeeze in one more little bit of summer vacation before school activities start this week. We headed for Galveston - the nearest beach to where we live. It is not a beautiful beach, but it is the ocean, the sun, the sand, the breeze... and a getaway from home. And for us, for this summer, it was perfect.

Generally, we are "mountain people". Every chance we get, we load the family up and head north to the cool respite that is the Rocky Mountains. God, with His sense of humor, gave us a child that says that she loves the beach... and begged to go there before we made another trip to the mountains. It has been 5 years since we took Allie and Jack to the beach, so we agreed that it was time to try it again. Interestingly, I think that God was getting me ready for a trip to the beach instead of the mountains this year. I have enjoyed the sun more this summer than ever before. (Amazing what a good sunscreen can do for a fair skinned person!) Here is Allie's first dip in the ocean... the place that her soul feels at most at peace. I loved watching her be "in her element", and I am glad that she inspired us to hit the beach this summer. We all loved it!
