Yesterday I took the kids (plus a friend that is becoming like one of the family) to 6 Flags. Not for the rides. Not for the shows. Not for the cotton candy. Not for the light-up toys. But... for the Demi Lovato concert. What?!?!? You don't know who Demi Lovato is?!?!? Then you must not have a child that loves and adores the past, present, and future Disney Channel movies. Demi Lovato starred in the most recent one, Camp Rock, with a little band known as The Jonas Brothers. It was a hit at our house for all of the kids that live here (and some that visit frequently). So, to have the chance to see Miss Lovato in person... that was a BIG deal! There was one problem... she was playing at the outdoor amphitheater at 6 Flags... on the last day of July... in central Texas. The emcee called it a "balmy" day. Ummm, last time I checked I think that a heat index of 108 qualifies as more than "balmy"... but whatever. After the first hour or so of fighting to catch our breath and spraying each other in the face with a water bottle and getting sunscreen in a few eyes and a trip to the First Aid center for a temperature check for the littlest boy and drinking tons of water, we all seemed to acclimate. The sun finally started setting and the adrenaline rush of seeing a teen star perform in the midst of a sea of screaming kids and moms frantically trying to get the perfect picture of the experience took our minds off of the fact that we were surviving a near-death experience. It was actually so, so fun to watch my kids have such a blast!

One Hot Mama (and a few hot kids)
Although we didn't go to the park until the afternoon, the day started early as Corey was at 6 Flags when it opened (along with thousands of enthusiastic girls, evidentially) to pick up tickets for his princess. (He got the World's Best Daddy Award yesterday!)
Allie & Katie waiting for the concert to start.

~the boys are such troopers to go along on their big sister's adventures~
(Maybe it is their pay-off for all of the baseball games that she has been to... and all that are to come. Actually, they both loved the concert too!)
~Demi Lovato~
(My big kids are in that crowd! Yikes!)
~watching the concert~
After the concert the kids had fun looking at the stage where Demi had just been standing.

Looks like you all had a very fun, sweaty time. :0)
That looks so fun ... except for the obscenely hot part. You all look like you're melting! Hope Cooper's ears are okay.
Oh my -- you guys look HOT! I don't mean hot as in whoa, I mean hot as in ugh. In spite of it being a "balmy" day, I'm glad you guys had fun.
Looks fun and hot!
Kaitlyn would have loooved to go.
It is so funny that she already knows exactly who that is.
