Catching Up November: NYC: Day 4 - Serendipity & Dylan's Candy Bar

One place that we were sure that we wanted to visit while in NYC was Serendipity. It is a tiny little restaurant that has been featured in a few movies - Serendipity and One Fine Day - and is famous for its frozen hot chocolate. It is known for having a line to get inside, but when I called the restaurant the lady on the phone told me that if we got there before they opened we would be almost sure to get a table. We arrived at Serendipity a half hour or so before they opened and were about the 4th party in the line to get in.

While I waited in line, Corey and Allie went down the street to a candy store called Dylan's Candy Bar which is owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter. It looked really cute!

Once inside Serendipity, I was so impressed with how cute (and small!) the little place was. We were seated upstairs. The couple that you can see eating across the room from us by the fireplace were the first in line. They wanted the table by the fireplace because that is the table that was featured in the movie. Notice the empty tables? They all filled up right away after we were seated.

Yes, it was as good as we heard that it would be.

Serendipity is known for all of its Tiffany lamp shades. They made the place seem almost make-believe.

Amy - I thought I'd read that you can make reservations at Serendipity if you're actually eating (as opposed to just having dessert). Do you know if that's true? Trying to find ways to avoid waiting in lines with 2 little ones. Thanks!

Jami - Yes, you can make reservations. That day, the earliest time they had was 2:00, and we had to leave for the airport at 3:00... So that wouldn't work. You might want to call pretty early to make reservations if you need a specific time.
