Thank God I'm A Country Girl

I love country music. I don't get to listen to it much, but when I do... I love it. It reminds me of a slow-paced life, the comforts of a small town, a time when Corey and I were falling in love, home-cooking, blue jeans, and talking with a twang in my voice.

In 1986 my family moved to a little Texas town where 99.9% of the radios were tuned to a country music station. I would go to dances where someone would literally put a George Strait cassette in, and we would dance straight through the album. Before that time, I was an Air Supply/ Chicago kind of gal. But at that point, my love for country music began to bloom.

I love how many country songs tell such great stories. And how some are just flat out hilarious!

Yesterday, Corey and I were alone in the car, and we were listening to the radio (and it was not Radio Disney). A sweet song came on, and by the end of the first verse I was a blubbering idiot. It was so, so sweet! It was called Stealing Cinderella. You should find the video on YouTube. You'll cry too! Especailly if you have a little girl.

I LOVE that song. I also cried alone in the minivan the first time I heard this song.

I cried the first time i heard the song too. Actually, I cry every time I hear the song (I listen to country music on the way to work each morning - until there is acommercial and then I turn it to something else and on and on it goes....)
Hope you don't mind that I stopped by.

Okay, I just heard that song this weekend while I was alone, running errands. Totally made me cry!!! I'll have to watch the Youtube of it.

Country music does the same thing to me. I am totally taken away to small town life. I never truly "lived" in a small town, but I've been many times. Sweet memories.
