Another Bridge Crossed

Last night my baby girl went to her first night of youth group at our church.  I can't believe that  she is old enough to do that!  Really... where does the time go!?!  I remember being in youth group like it was yesterday.  Amazing!  Allie seemed to like it a lot, and I was impressed with the way that things seemed to be organized too.  My favorite part of the night... when the kids arrived at the church the middle school kids got a certain color of bracelet and the high school kids got another.   Then each group did different activities through the night which did not overlap.  The youth workers could quickly tell which kids belonged where because of their bracelets.  I must say that the thought of my young one not being around an older crowd takes a load off of this mama's mind!  There won't be any first kisses in the bushes for this one during "youth group"!  Her favorite part of the night might have been spending time with friends, the backpack with goodies that they gave each kid, the concession stand that sold nachos and candy, or the big comfy chairs that she sat and visited in.

This school year has already brought so many changes to Allie.  So far, they have all been good changes.  In addition to just plain growing up, I think that my girl is coming into her own.  She seems to be more comfortable in her own skin.  More content with her life the way that is is.  More happy in her environments.  And as her mom, there is not a whole lot that makes me more happy than that.

So, that's that.  I guess that it is true.  I am the mom of a kid in youth group.  A mom of a kid that changes classes for each subject at school.  A mom of a kid that is old enough and responsible enough to stay home alone sometimes.  A mom of a kid that e-mails her friends.  A mom of a kid that loves fashion and music and talking on the phone to her buddies.  A mom of a kid that loves listening to music and hanging out with her girlfriends.  A mom of a kid in middle school.   I am that mom!  It is a wonderful time in my life as a mom, and I am honored that I get to be that mom to my Allie Girl!

I'm so glad youth group went well last night! This seems like a new beginning for our youth at church... hope it continues to be a place Allie wants to be a part of... my closest friends are from youth group days- including your sisters!

This truly is a wonderful... and challenging season for the mom and dad of a girl like our Allie Jill. :0) I'm so very thankful that you both continue to make all those stepping stone memories together as you become a little more apart. You and Corey have invested such good character and principles in her from the time she was a baby and I am confident God will bring her into the fullness of exactly what He has had planned for her from before she was even born. Have fun this year! :0)

What a huge step! Sounds like youth group is really great. I hope she loves it and draws closer to God through it. That's a beautiful picture of Allie.
